This beautiful slice of meteorite came from a much bigger piece which weighs a massive 1003 kilos and is reported to be 4.5 billion years old. It was found near Fukang in China last year. No one saw it arrive from outer space but arrive it did and we may never know how far it has travelled across time and space.

The gleaming gems it contains we know as Olivines, Chrysolites or Peridots. My heart gave a tiny leap at this information as my beautiful engagement ring had been a Peridot which are not only found here on Planet Earth but have also been found on both Mars and the Moon by NASA probes. Some of the first Peridots that formed within our own planet were mined by the Ancient Egyptians on St John’s Island in the Red Sea (then called Zabargad). They called it the ‘gem of the sun’ as they believed that the stones absorbed and stored the sun’s rays which is why they glowed and sparkled in the dark. Not surprisingly, they believed the gems to be protective, particularly for warding off nightmares. They adorned goblets in the hopes that the liquid would imbue the drinker with greatness, and also sword hilts to enhance the sword’s strength and power.

Peridot is also said to carry the gift of ‘inner radiance’, bringing clarity and new levels of growth and awareness to the wearer and the ability to recognise and realise one’s destiny and spiritual purpose. Perhaps it helped me recognise my hasty marriage was not part of that destiny and purpose but that’s another story. Yet having rediscovered the Peridot I am keen to find a ring or a pendant to assist in working through the planetary shift into the 5th dimension and the Golden Age  that has been prophesied to last for ten thousand years. Huzzah to that!

The Peridot is said to carry the gift of ‘inner radiance’, bringing clarity and new levels of growth and awareness to the wearer and the ability to recognise and realise one’s destiny and spiritual purpose.

That inner radiance chimes with the beliefs of the Ancient Egyptians. Some of the first Peridots that formed within our planet were mined by them on St John’s Island in the Red Sea (then called Zabargad). They called it the ‘gem of the sun’ as they believed that the stones absorbed and stored the sun’s rays which is why they glowed and sparkled in the dark. Goblets were adorned with the gems in the hopes that the liquid would imbue the drinker with strength and greatness as were sword hilts to enhance the strength and power of the blade.

Yet we are not the only beings in the universe to benefit from the gifts of the Peridot. Nasa probes have brought them back  from the surface of the Moon and Mars and last year a massive meteorite reported to be 4.5 billion years old, weighing 10003 kilos and peppered with Peridots (also known as Olivines & Chrysolites) fell near Fukang in China. We may never know how far it has travelled across time and space or what other races are enjoying their beauty.

All of which causes me to regret letting go of the engagement ring my husband gave me but perhaps the stone itself helped me recognise that my overly hasty marriage was not part of that destiny and purpose – but that’s another story.

Having rediscovered the beauty and properties of the Peridot I plan to look for a new piece. Every tool that assists in  raising our frequency and helps to bring about our personal and planetary shift into the 5th Dimension the Golden Age  that has been prophesied to last for ten thousand years is to be treasured.
